Classical dancer of repute, Leela Samson, will take charge as chairperson, Central Board of Film Certification, from April 1, sources in the information and broadcasting ministry told Hindustan Times. Known for her Bharatnatyam technique, Samson, 60, is also a noted choreographer and writer.
At present, she is chairperson of Sangeet Natak Akademi, the country's National Academy for Music Dance and Drama.
She is also the director of Kalakshetra, an institute for the classical arts that was founded by the late Rukmini Devi Arundale.
Samson takes over from Sharmila Tagore who took over from actor Anupam Kher in October, 2004.
