A few months ago, singer Sunidhi Chauhan collaborated with Shamir Tandon to produce an Indian remix of Enrique Iglesias' 2010's hit single 'Heartbeat...'. Replete with desi sounds and Hindi lyrics, Enrique's music label Universal released the track in his album Euphoria, for the Indian market. The original song was a duet between Enrique and Pussycat Dolls' lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.
Now the Latin singer is being approached to tour India. However, the organisers are still unsure about the details.
"He may be coming in summer this year," confirms Sunidhi, for whom collaborating with Enrique was one of her career's biggest highlights. "I'm a big fan. He has soul in his singing. We both also have the same range, which is why the song came out well. It will be great performing with him live."
While Universal is tight-lipped about his tour plans, organiser Prashant Shirshat of 3rd Rock Entertainment says the concert will be held by the end of this year. "We wanted to get Enrique by June-July, but the monsoon in India could disrupt shows. So we have opted for the second week of November. I will get the final confirmation for the two concerts in Mumbai and Bangalore in a few days."
Lyricist Rekha Nigam who wrote Sunidhi's verses for the song says, "Enrique was happy with the song and enjoyed the video, which was shot in India and US. He is keen on coming to India." The 'Hero...' singer was also reported saying, "I fell in love with India during my 2004 tour. Ever since, I've wanted to do something here. I'm dying to come back soon."
