Director of cult films like Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Farhan Akhtar has always been known for taking the Indian audiences to new destinations with every movie.
On being asked how he decides the location for a movie, he says, “As a filmmaker, I try to make the setting of the film an integral part of the story — not merely the backdrop. Don 2, which comes out later in the year, needed a really wintery setting, so we chose Berlin.”

Talking about his new film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that is his foray into the road movie genre, he says, “The story is about three friends—played by Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and myself—who make a pact to go on a road trip before they get married. They keep their promise and end up travelling around Spain together.”
Sharing his experiences about holidaying with family, Farhan says, “My wife Adhuna and I have taken our daughters, ten-year-old Shakya, and Akira, who’s four, to a lot of different places. In fact we went to Berlin on a road trip back in 2007, when Akira was just a few months old.”
On being quizzed about his honeymoon destination with wife Adhuna, he said, “Adhuna and I went to Fort Kochi in Kerala. We stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel called The Malabar House and spent time cruising the backwaters. It was quite romantic.”
