Anil Kapoor may be into his 50s now but the actor, who started from extremely humble beginnings, has no qualms admitting that he is not looking for anything small. Rather he admits that the journey has just begun and he is looking at getting bigger in Hollywood even as he maintains his stature in home ground Bollywood. We spoke to the actor who sixth film as a producer – No Problem – releases this week.
How is it to be back in India?
I love it here. My film is releasing and once again there is a lot of fun and music. This is my first film in two years and I don’t even remember my last release! Iam pretty excited hence.
The film seems to be a complete entertainer.
No Problem is a typical Bollywood entertainer. It’s fun and mad! And that’s what makes me happier. And this kind of movies is much cooler to watch. Youngsters and families prefer such movies. Hence it is a good thing that my first movie after two years is such an entertainer. People did tell me that it should have been a serious film as I am coming back after two years. But I am happy with this. It’s a film that is likable.
Your Hollywood career has got a huge boost with Mission Impossible 4.
I am fortunate and lucky to get such opportunities to be a part of Slumdog Millionaire, 24 and now MI4. And this is just the start of my career in Hollywood. I have a long way to go. Nevertheless, I am very excited about No Problem. I am still a new actor there (Hollywood) and I like it here.
Talking about No Problem, tell us about your role in the film.
I am playing a cop in the film. He thinks he is a super cop but he is actually not. It is more on the lines of the Pink Panther and the kind of roles Peter Sellers did. Of course Peter Sellers is a great actor and I am no one in front of him but we have tried to create an interesting character that people can enjoy.
Finally, Madhuri Dixit is back in India for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Have you spoken to her yet? How about working together again?
I was shooting for Mission Impossible and as soon as I landed in India I got involved with the promotions of No Problem. So I have not got time to meet her or talk to her yet. About working together, always think about it but she has to think about it too!
