Katrina Kaif interview

Katrina Kaif has been considered as one of the most attractive actresses in Bollywood ever. She has been ranked right at the top when it comes to photo downloads online. However that certainly was not enough as the actress has turned into her sensuous best in the forthcoming Tees Maar Khan. The video of Sheila Ki Jawani, that was released a few days back, is one of the most watched videos online right now and she is the topic of every guy in town. Katrina lost weight and toned her body to her hottest best for the song which also required her to learn a bit of belly dancing. We talk to the girl who is wooing the country as Sheila right now.

‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ is extremely sensuous.
We are not trying to tantalize anyone with the video and neither did we cross any boundaries of dignity. The song was shot with very clear conscience.

Your dance number ‘Zara Zara’ from Race is still hot. What would you say is the difference between that song and Sheila?
They are as different as biryani from apple pie!

It is believed that Farah Khan gave you DVD’s of certain Madhuri Dixit films to check her steps and style.
It is not that we copied steps. I can never copy anyone even if I want to. We just attempted to refresh certain memories. We tried imbibing the energy that were in those songs.

Talking about the film, who is Sheila anyway?
My actual name in the film is Anya. Anya is a wannabe actress and Sheila is the name of a character that Anya plays in a film. Anya actually wants to do item songs! She is a very simple character who trusts everyone very easily. And she falls into problems because of this nature and Akshay’s character keeps saving her.

You have another dance number ‘Wallah Wallah’ in which you dance with both Akshay and Salman. What was on your mind when you shot for that song?
Frankly my concentration was more on the heavy jewellery that I was made to wear for the video! It was a head to ear piece inspired by Meena Kumari!
Share with us your experience of working with Farah.
It’s not about a male or a female director because at the end of the day a film is either good or bad. The only difference is in the way you connect with them. I remember after each shot of Sheila I would scream at Farah asking for attention! I used to tell her I am going home because she was not giving me any attention. I am a girl, I need attention! Farah is indeed a joy to work with! You will never find her wasting a minute of your time and is absolutely clear in her vision and requirement. I had wanted to work with her and when I was asked I took the opportunity.

Post Tees Maar Khan, you have another very interesting film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Tell us something about that film.
We have been shooting in Delhi and Agra and some remote places in North India. And we were staying in some shady hotel! But we have a proper place to sleep and good security. Despite all these it has been fun to shoot the film as there are so many friends involved. I have worked with the director Ali Abbas Zafar before too while shooting for New York. I am really looking forward to the film as it is a very interesting story.
