Farhan Akhtar has clarified that the story of his sister's "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" has no similarity with his directorial debut "Dil Chahta Hai", while Zoya Akhtar says it'll be a compliment for her movie if it reminds people of her brother's film.
"Dil Chahata Hai' was a quite a long ago. You see here three boys riding in a car. That might have drawn the comparison. That's really where the comparison ends. This story is way ahead and has much more to offer. It's also much more mature in the writing than 'Dil Chahta Hai'," Farhan told reporters at the launch of it online trailer at Novotel Hotel here Sunday.
"Dil Chahta Hai", one of the landmark films, was about the bonding of three friends played by Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan, while "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" about a road trip taken by three friends.
Apart from Farhan, the films stars an eclectic cast of Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif Abhay Deol and Kalki Koelchin.
Zoya, who made her directorial debut with "Luck By Chance" in 2009, has a sentimental attachment to "Dil Chahta Hai" - she had worked as an assistant director in the film.
"I loved 'Dil Chahta Hai'. I have worked in it. If this film reminds people of 'Dil Chahta Hai' and would go to watch it, it would be a compliment," said Zoya.
When asked why the release had been postponed from May 30 to July 15, Farhan said: "We are very, very happy with the film has been made. We showed it to a couple of people to get feed back from them. We debated on that. You can not just rush to release your film when you are not 100 percent sure. It's always important that you take your time and make sure that your audience loves the film," said Farhan.
